Teacher: Yale Wall Series: #Advent Scripture: Revelation 3:15-16 & John 12:27

December 8, 2024 #ADVENT PEACE Revelation 3:15-16 15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. When you do something kind in the midst of chaos it is so much more potent and so much more obvious to every person around you. I believe that’s the same reason why peace is such an important value during Christmas. John 14:27 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. God doesn’t give us peace like the world gives us where peace is counterfeit and forced, he gives us real internal peace. It’s the difference between gritting your teeth to get through something, and legitimately being in a good place. 1. Spend time with Jesus If you aren’t consistently spending time with Jesus, I would highly encourage you to start doing it daily. Discipleship Metrics: Time with Jesus Start by spending some time: worshipping, praying, and reading scripture. If you do that daily, it will 100% change your life and you will be more peaceful. 2. Go to God with Your Worry We can easily get so focused on issues themselves
and begging God to fix them that we miss Him, or so focused on ignoring the things,
and hoping He’ll make them go away,
that we miss Him. Take your worry and your stress to God, and ask Him to walk through it WITH YOU. 3. Choose Peace, Share Peace I think how we structure our day during Christmas, decides a lot of how we’re going to respond to thing. Make changes in your life that give you space to connect with God and get peace around stressful things. He’s the only thing that brings peace to you, or to anyone else in your life. CONNECTION CARD Easy: I will write a post encouraging people to press into peace during a busy season. Medium: I will share a worship song that brings me peace and explain why it helps me. Hard: I will fast from social media for a few days to press into peace, and share my experience at the end. Submit Digital Card
