Joy to the World
Joy to the World , the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.
Joy to the World, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.
He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders, of His love.
Back story:
It was written by a man named Isaac Watts in 1719.
Music was later put to those words by Lowell Mason in 1839
The themes of this carol could be found in Psalms 98
Psalms 98:1-3
Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm has worked salvation for him.
The Lord has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations. He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God
Psalm 98: 4-6
Shout for joy to the Lord , all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn— shout for joy before the Lord , the King.
Joy: The word for joy in this passage was only used in for when God was the reason for that joy and was not used in any other place
Jubilant: Showing great joy, satisfaction, or triumph, rejoicing or exalting
Psalms 98: 7-9
Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it. Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy; let them sing before the Lord , for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples with equity.
Jesus Christ in the form Of a child brought joy to this world
He is the reason to chose joy over anything
Our joy is proportional to our relationship with christ, maintaining a personal relationship with christ.
As followers of Jesus we are responsible to find the joy in our lives. We have to be actively seeking out the way that God is moving in our lives. And at the end of their day it's up to us there choose joy.
