Treasure your child. “But his mother (Mary)treasured all these things in her heart.” Luke 2:51

4) GUIDE YOUR CHILDREN IN DISCIPLINE AND INSTRUCTION OF THE LORD

Proverbs 22:6 – “Start children in the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it.”

DISCIPLINE YOUR CHILD

“The one who loves their children is careful to discipline them. Prov 13:24b
“Discipline your children while there is hope.
Otherwise you will ruin their lives.” Prov 19:18

“To discipline a child produces wisdom, but a mother is disgraced by an undisciplined child. Pro. 219:15
“Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4:
“Fathers, do not aggravate your children, or they will become discouraged.” Col 3:21 … instead Psalm 103:13 talks about how God relates to us as a father to his children , tender and compassionate” and also Deut 1:31 “the Lord your God cared for you all the way as your traveled the wilderness, just as a father cares for his child.”

TEACH YOUR CHILD GOD’S WORD

Deuteronomy 6:5-9
5 And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. 6 And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. 7 Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. 8 Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. 9 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

TEACH CHILD TO PRAY

• Create a family lifestyle of Kingdom living
• Help them love church/God’s people
• Help them choose God’s values their own!

5) GIVE CHILD BACK TO GOD. ALLOW THEM TO BE ADULTS

6) HONOR YOUR PARENTS;

Honor you father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.” Exodus 20:12; 

“Honor your father and mother – which is the first commandment with a promise.” Ephesians 6:2

As Parents, the starting point is:

“AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE, WE WILL SERVE THE LORD.” (JOSHUA 24: 15)
