Acts 6:1-7
Now in these days when the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint by the Hellenists arose against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution. 2 And the twelve summoned the full number of the disciples and said, “It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables. 3 Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty. 4 But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” 5 And what they said pleased the whole gathering, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch. 6 These they set before the apostles, and they prayed and laid their hands on them.
7 And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith.
If God presents you with an opportunity to step in and serve, what are you doing with it? Do Something.
Maybe you're gifted to do the “small” things so well and you’re missing out on the joy God has waiting for you. Do Something.
Pastors should not try or be expected to try to do everything on their own. The work should be spread out among the church. Do Something.
Zechariah 4:10
Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.
if you’ve noticed a need or a hole, or you have a gift that’s not being utilized right now, Do Something.
Acts 6:7
And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith.
Ask yourself these two questions:
- Think of needs around the church, all the needs. They’re actually listed around the church, so this shouldn’t be too hard to do.
- What can YOU specifically do to fill some of those needs? Let’s say 3 needs.
With those answers in mind, use this simple technique to set some serving goals in 2023:
- What do I want to START doing in 2023?
- What do I want to STOP doing in 2023?
- What do I want to do MORE of in 2023?
- What do I want to do LESS of in 2023?
