CORONA CHRISTMAS

VIRUS

Jesus Meets us in Terrible Circumstances

When Jesus entered the world as a baby, He entered straight into turmoil.

In Matthew 2, right after Jesus is born, the magi came to worship him and when King Herod found out…

Matthew 2:7-8
7 Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. 8 He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”

Matthew 2:16
16 When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.

Jesus coming in the midst of terrible circumstances is not happenstance, it’s His Character.  Jesus knows EXACTLY where you are, and He wants to meet you IN THAT CIRCUMSTANCE.

Jesus Meets Us When We’re at our Worst

So, wherever it is that you are, I’d be willing to bet that you don’t feel
like you’re operating at 100% right now.  Jesus meets you there.

Romans 5:6-8
6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Guys, Jesus doesn’t just love us when we’re following Him, He loves us. Period.

Jesus Meets us in our Chaos

God is the opposite of chaos!

1 Corinthians 14:33
For God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people.

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

John 16:33
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

When Jesus came, He didn’t just come as a lone man, He ushered in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Luke 17:20-21
20 Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, 21 nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst.”

We live in a relatively minuscule timeframe that is between Kingdom of God being away from here and the Kingdom of God being fully here.  We live in a time where the Kingdom of God IS JESUS, and in turn is the Holy Spirit living inside of us.  That means that we don’t live IN chaos, we live surrounded by chaos.

Connection Card

  1. I am going to spent time this week simply thanking God for being faithful and meeting me in the middle of terrible circumstances.
  2. I will commit to work through sin issues that have hit me during COVID.
  3. I will trust God to be my peace through Chaos this Christmas season.
