There’s nothing about being a Christian that is simple or easy.  We live in a time where being a Christian doesn't just make you different, it makes you look in the wrong, hurtful, and even hateful because of the world's compass of morality.  If you're a Christian, and you call yourself a follower of Jesus, what’s the point of standing for such an unpopular opinion? If you are not a Christian
and you're new to this whole church thing, what's the point of being here?  In this series, we're looking at the point of all of this...  A life-changing relationship with Jesus!

The word, “outreach,” can bring up so many emotions like fear or nervousness, but outreach is the whole reason that we are still on this earth after we meet Jesus.

Matthew 28:19
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

Outreach is done wrongly so often.  It's horrible seeing people screaming at people from a street corner in the name of Jesus.  But also, there’s truth to what they’re saying, even if the delivery is terrible. If you don’t know Jesus, you are going to Hell - as much as it hurts saying that.

Ecclesiastes 3:17
“God will bring into judgment
    both the righteous and the wicked,
for there will be a time for every activity,
    a time to judge every deed.”

But, it's also equally as bad when people preach a watered down version of the Gospel that ignores the justice of God and the repentance of people, and only looks at the mercy.

1 John 3:1
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!

Ephesians 4:11-12
11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up

If we're looking at outreach solely in how it affects us, we're missing the point.

So, what's the point of outreach?
Jesus, is the whole point of reaching out to people.

When outreach is FOR JESUS, under the POWER OF JESUS, for the KINGDOM OF JESUS, the pressure is lifted off of our shoulders.  At that point, you are being faithful and obedient and jumping into a huge plan that God is already working out!

What does Matthew 28:19 says to go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. So, when you are walking down the street, and you start a conversation about Jesus with someone, the weight of their salvation is not on your shoulders.  You are doing the same thing you do in discipleship: encouraging them to get closer to Jesus in whatever way they need to get closer to Jesus. The weight is not on you.
