The Partying God

God's Party is Better

Time and time again in the Bible, we see that God really just wants to bless his children and give them good things.  He's not a harsh dictator like some think he is, he is a partier!

1. Satan Wants You Think the World is More Fun

In the first few chapters of the Bible, God creates everything on the earth to be incredible, and gives it all to Adam and Eve. The one and only thing that God said not to do, was to eat from 1 tree. But then Satan comes on the scene and convinces them that there is something better that they are missing out on.

Genesis 3:1-7
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”
4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

We have all at some point looked at what the world offers and we’ve said, “man, that looks like a whole lot of fun!”  The Enemy makes us think that if we go our own way, that we'll be free, but its not true.

John 8:32
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

2. Christianity Doesn't Suck, It’s a Blast!

Luke 15:11-32
11 Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. 12 The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.
13 “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. 14 After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16 He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.
17 “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ 20 So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.

So, what does God do when the son comes home? HE THROWS A PARTY! That is who God is, He is a God who Celebrates!

3. God Loves to Party… And So Does Living Faith!

This church loves to party, and celebrate what God does.
