Father Heart of God

Father Heart of God
Adoption to Sonship

Ephesians 1:4-5
4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will

If you have accepted His gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, you have been adopted as His son or daughter.

Romans 8:14-17
14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

The big thing we need to celebrate, and ultimately the thing that shows his Father heart is that we are the children of God we are heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ. He didn’t just offer you a blanket statement change, He pulled you, personally into His family.

What does that say about the Father Heart of God?

1. Adopting Us Cost God a Lot

Galations 4:4-5
4 But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.

2. He chose to take ownership of us, and everything we do reflects on Him.

1 Corinthians 5:20
20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

3. We are now heirs of the Father

Romans 8:17
Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

4. Adoption was planned

1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

5. We’re not alone anymore, we’re part of a family

Ephesians 2:19-20
19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.

The biggest thing I see that shows the Father Heart of God is the fact that over and over, He uses the word ADOPTION.

Romans 8:15
the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship

Romans 8:23
we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship

Romans 9:4
Theirs is the adoption to sonship; theirs the divine glory

Galatians 4:5
to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship

Ephesians 1:5
he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ

In all of your issues and in all of your sin, He still chose to adopt you.
